I was brought on as an Encounter Designer under a Senior Designer, and we were tasked with working on mission “Shutdown”, a campaign mission that also featured major aerial vehicle segments. Part of the challenge was making flight travel feel fast, which is hard to do without similarly scaled objects in the sky to fly past. Additionally, I worked on 2 of the 3 encounter pockets featured in the mission.
When I joined the team, two of the spaces had very early block in completed. I took over one of them, and also began work creating the 3rd. These two spaces would change pretty wildly in the 5 months I owned them, with one featuring a Gondola (moving platform), and the other featuring numerous bridges that connected various platforms, activated by the player (an idea from before I owned the space that was worth taking to ship). In January of 2012, I handed over the two spaces to another designer and joined the Spartan Ops team (then as the 3rd of 3 designers) to begin making content for that mode, which was beginning production.
